Sharmila Fagoonee is a Researcher at the Institute of Biostructure and Bioimaging of the Italian National Research Council and Molecular Biotechnology Center in Turin, Italy. After her BSc (Hons) in Biology in Mauritius and MSc in Cellular Biology in Bordeaux, France, she got her Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Turin. She is currently interested in human stem cells-based therapy for liver diseases, as well as in developing new biomarkers and studying the mechanisms leading to liver fibrosis and cancer. She has published over 160 scientific papers and 4 book chapters. Dr. Fagoonee has been recently appointed as Chief Editor of Minerva Biotecnologica and is an Editorial Board member as well as reviewer of several journals.
